Google Data Breach Class Action
A representative action on behalf of approximately 5.4 million iPhone users has today, 30 November 2017, been issued against Google. The claim seeks damages for Google’s bypassing of the default security settings on the Safari search engine (known as the ‘Safari Workaround’). This enabled Google to track and collate users’ browsing habits, for use in its targeted advertising service. The representative claimant is Richard Lloyd, former Executive Director of Which?
