Isha has a broad commercial litigation practice. She frequently appears in both the County Court and the Winding Up Court. She has appeared as sole counsel in the High Court for the final determination of a property dispute and is engaged as sole counsel in a commercial matter. Additionally, Isha acts as Junior Counsel on the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry for the Government Legal Department (JJ Scheme).

Isha has worked on matters across a spectrum of practice areas within Chambers, encompassing group litigation, public inquiries, product liability, property, health and safety, employment, consumer credit, data protection, civil fraud, and harassment cases.

In 2023, Isha embarked on a one-month secondment with Griffiths and Partners in the Turks and Caicos Islands, gaining invaluable experience while working closely with the litigation team on a range of cases.

Isha graduated top of her year in Law at the University of York and has completed the BCL at the University of Oxford.  She received the Queen Mother scholarship from Middle Temple.  Isha has also spoken at the House of Lords.  Before starting pupillage, she volunteered for the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Commercial

Isha has received instructions in a range of commercial cases, encompassing civil fraud trials, economic tort claims, and interim applications.

During her pupillage, Isha actively contributed to various group actions, some with international aspects.  Her specialisation in conflict of laws during the BCL has equipped her with a deep understanding of intricate jurisdictional frameworks and the nuances involved in representative actions.

  • Civil Fraud Trial

    Isha acted as sole counsel in a civil fraud trial on behalf of an energy company.

  • High Court

    Isha is appearing in the High Court as sole counsel in a commercial matter worth over £200,000.

  • Breach of contract

    Isha represented a member of the Saudi Arabian royal family bringing a breach of contract claim concerning a share purchase agreement. She was before a Circuit Judge.

Consumer

Isha has been instructed as sole counsel by major UK lenders and companies to appear in Consumer Credit Act 1974, Consumer Rights Act 2015, mishandling of personal data and harassment claims.

  • Motor Finance Commission claims

    Isha is regularly instructed to attend final hearings concerning allegations of breach of statutory duty, bribery, half-secret commission, and unfair relationship claims in relation to motor finance commission payments made by lenders to dealers/brokers in respect of Hire Purchase Agreements or Conditional Sale Agreements.

  • Payment Protection Insurance claims

    Isha has acted in various trials, raising questions of unfairness under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 concerning PPI policies linked to credit agreements.

  • Harassment

    Isha defended an energy company against a claim of harassment.

Insolvency

Isha has considerable experience in insolvency cases.  She has handled claims under the Insolvency Act 1986 and represented clients in Winding Up Court.

    Isha acted for a football club and succeeded in obtaining a bankruptcy order.

Property

Isha has extensive experience in property law disputes.  Her expertise spans various aspects of landlord and tenant disputes, including disrepair claims, obtaining gas and electrical injunctions, and advising on commercial lease agreements.

  • High Court

    Isha appeared as sole counsel in the High Court in a Part 8 claim brought in relation to an estate worth over £600,000.

  • Advice on a commercial lease

    Isha advised a client on a £90,000 claim in relation to being overcharged by its landlord for both gas and electricity, including being charged for supplies to other tenants on the industrial estate. She also advised on the responsibility for repairs and maintenance of the client’s electricity system.

Data Protection

Isha is familiar with data protection claims. She has worked on matters concerning compliance with subject access requests, sought an injunction for the delivery up of documents, and advised on loss and the right to erasure and destruction.

Isha acts on Public Inquiries. She is instructed as Junior Counsel (JJ scheme) on the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry for the Government Legal Department.

  • Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry

    Isha has been instructed as Junior Counsel on the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry for the Government Legal Department. Her involvement relates to Phases 5 and 6 of the inquiry.

Offshore

During four weeks in the Turks and Caicos Islands in February and March 2023, Isha saw a broad range of offshore litigious work.  This included contentious trust matters, a property case involving the ownership of accreted land, a contractual dispute where a restriction (freezing order) had been obtained on valuable parcels of land, and a TCI Islander Status judicial review case.  Isha also drafted pleadings on a high-net-worth ancillary relief claim.  She assisted on various hearings, including on a complex recusal application with significant implications for the judiciary in the Turks and Caicos Islands.  Isha is comfortable advising on substantive offshore matters as well as assisting ancillary support matters within the jurisdiction of the English courts.

Employment

Isha has assisted as junior counsel and during pupillage on various employment matters, including equal pay, discrimination and unfair dismissal cases. Some cases involved an international aspect.
