Jamie Hill KC is a specialist in all aspects of criminal law and is the Silk of choice for many defence solicitors when seeking leading counsel for clients charged with serious offences, including murder, manslaughter, sexual abuse, kidnap, rape and fraud.
Jamie also has considerable experience in Health & Safety, Regulatory matters, particularly involving issues of Discrimination, and Police Disciplinary proceedings, Fire safety cases and inquests.
Jamie is married with two adult daughters a keen sportsman and season ticket holder for Newcastle United and Durham County Cricket Club. Previously a manager of Whitley Bay and Tynemouth Hockey Club Ladies First Team, and recently finished lengthy stints as a school governor, and as director of a Community Interest Company.

He has expertise in medical and scientific issues, with recent experience of non-accidental head injuries in babies, and involvement in a leading case in the interpretation of LCN DNA evidence.

Advising Police and CPS (with DPP case meetings) on prosecution of prison officers in respect of historic sexual and violent offending against inmates at a Detention Centre between 1960’s and 1980’s. 1700+ complaints.

Successful prosecution of two previously convicted murderers accused of raping and murdering a woman.

Jamie’s regulatory practice has involved Police Federation work going back over 25 Years, regularly appearing in Police Disciplinary Hearings and Inquests.
Recent cases include:
- Advised several high ranking officers in relation to employment matters
- Adverse decision appealed to Police Appeals Tribunal; subsequently succeeded in Administrative Court on Judicial Review.
- Advised a group of BME officers in Cleveland regarding discrimination claims which were settled.
