Breakfast Seminar: Public inquiries, inquests and subsequent proceedings: dress rehearsal or side show? – Tuesday 28 April 2026

Clients are frequently concerned that proceedings before a public inquiry, or an inquest, will have a decisive impact on subsequent claims, investigations or prosecutions.  This seminar will provide practitioners with an essential guide answering the legal, procedural and tactical issues arising from the interplay of public inquiries/inquests, and subsequent proceedings, including the following:

  • Disclosure, confidentiality, FOI and the collateral use of disclosure arising from public inquiries/inquests.
  • Admissibility of evidence heard by a public inquiry/inquest in subsequent civil, regulatory and criminal proceedings.
  • Whether or not findings of facts, and opinion evidence, from a public inquiry report/inquest conclusion may be admissible in subsequent proceedings following Evans v Barclays Bank.
  • Procedural, practical concerns and tactical arising from the use of disclosure, factual evidence and opinion evidence in subsequent proceedings.

We hope that you will be able to join us.
