Toby Riley-Smith KC and Anna Medvinskaia will be speaking at GCR Live: Consumer Protection 2026 on Tuesday 10 February.  The conference will be hosted by Pinsent Masons in their London office: 30 Crown Place, Earl Street, London EC2A 4ES.  Anna is co-chair to the conference.

Toby will be joining a panel of speakers in a session titled “New risks, new compliance obligations: understanding the Competition and Markets Authority’s consumer protection powers” at 10.15am.

Anna will be moderating the panel “Civil liability and group litigation in the consumer sphere” at 3.45pm.

Speaking as co-chair, Anna says: “The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 has brought about a fundamental shift in consumer enforcement. For the first time, the CMA is vested with direct powers to impose fines for consumer law breaches. How these powers will be deployed in practice, and whether they will deliver the consumer outcomes envisaged by Parliament, are questions that will define the next phase of consumer protection in the UK. I very much look forward to exploring the new regime, along with the evolving role of private enforcement, with our brilliant line-up of speakers.”
