Prashant Popat KC & Christopher Adams secure acquittal in prosecution arising from tower crane collapse
Prashant Popat KC and Christopher Adams, instructed by Richard Crockford of Clyde & Co, have secured the acquittal of the largest independent tower crane supplier in the UK in a prosecution brought by the HSE arising from a tower crane collapse in which 3 employees died. Following two weeks of trial in Chester Crown Court, HHJ Everett directed the jury to return not guilty verdicts, commenting that this prosecution should never have been brought and the defendant had done nothing wrong. The Judge criticised the delay in the case being brought to trial, which had resulted in the bereaved families and the company having to wait 7.5 years for justice, as outrageous.
