Toby Riley-Smith QC appointed by the CMA as Standing Counsel (Consumer Law)
The Competition and Markets Authority has announced that Toby Riley-Smith QC is to be appointed to its panel of Standing Counsel. He will focus on its consumer law litigation.
The CMA works to ensure that consumers get a good deal when buying goods and services, and businesses operate within the law. This includes taking enforcement action under consumer protection legislation.
Toby is widely recognised as a leading specialist in consumer law – with particular expertise in the regimes regulating both consumer products and consumer finance. He is ranked as a leading silk in Consumer Law by both the Legal 500 and Chambers UK.
The appointment follows an open competition and is for an initial period of three years. Toby will continue to practise alongside this appointment.
