Henderson Chambers appoints Jason Housden as Chambers Director
Henderson Chambers is delighted to announce that Jason Housden, currently Practice Director at Matrix Chambers, has been appointed as our new Chambers Director from 31 May 2020. He will succeed John White on his retirement after forty-five years of service to Chambers, over thirty of them as Chief Clerk.
In order to ensure a seamless transition, Jason will join Chambers on 26 March 2020. During this handover period, John will introduce Jason to as many of our clients as possible and pass on his accumulated knowledge of our members and our key practice areas.
Jason is also looking forward to working alongside Helen Ghalem, who has managed the operational procedures and administration of Chambers since 2011, and who has been appointed to the role of Chambers Administration Director with effect from 26 March 2020.
“I and all members of Henderson Chambers are delighted to welcome Jason as our new Chambers Director.” says Charles Gibson QC, Head of Chambers. “He brings vast experience in practice management from his long and distinguished career in various top-tier sets of Chambers, most recently his very successful thirteen-year period as Practice Director and Interim Chief Executive at Matrix Chambers. This experience, and his formidable personal qualities, make him the perfect choice to succeed John White in this crucial role. I am confident that Chambers will continue to go from strength to strength.
I wish to pay tribute to John, deservedly described in this year’s Chambers UK as “the king of clerks”, who has done so much for us over the last half century. And I should also like to express our immense gratitude to Helen Ghalem, who has done so much to make Chambers the success it is over the past nine years. I am delighted that she will have the role of Chambers Administration Director going forward.”
“I am thrilled to have been appointed as Chambers Director at Henderson” says Jason Housden. “I am very excited about my new role and can’t wait to embark on the next stage of my career. The set is pre-eminent in a wide range of commercially and internationally focused practice areas. It is a privilege to take over from the legendary John White. I am looking forward to working with everyone at Henderson to develop the members’ individual practices and the collective offering of this fabulous Chambers. There are very exciting times ahead. I will miss many friends and colleagues I have made during my thirteen wonderful years at Matrix Chambers – it will be hard to say goodbye and I wish them all the best”.
