Following the success of members of Chambers (Charles Gibson QC and Adam Heppinstall, assisted by Hannah Wilson and Hannah Curtain) representing the Ministry of Defence in the Supreme Court in the Nuclear Test Veterans litigation, the War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Chamber of the First Tier Tribunal has released its decision in a group of war pensions appeals, dismissing 12 out of 13 appeals.
The Tribunal rejected the majority of the general environmental allegations made in relation to the Christmas Island nuclear tests in the 1950s and found that many of the claimed conditions were not capable of being caused by exposure to ionising radiation.
