Legal Professionals outside England & Wales

We regularly accept instructions from Scottish and Northern Irish solicitors to advise in all matters and to appear in courts and tribunals in which we have or can obtain rights of audience. We also accept instructions from any European lawyer registered with the Law Society as if they were an English solicitor.

All other lawyers outside of England and Wales can instruct us to provide any service which does not include advocacy in any court in England and Wales, although their lay clients may be able to instruct us under the direct access scheme.

We represent clients in international arbitrations and in mercantile/commercial courts in special jurisdictions where English Barristers have rights of audience (especially in the Arabian Peninsula).

In some jurisdictions (especially in those countries with common law systems) we may already have or may be able easily to acquire rights of audience and you should make inquiries with our clerks. We have links with lawyers in other jurisdictions and are happy to work in co-operation with legal professionals in all parts of the world. We have done so successfully in the past including forming teams with lawyers on several different continents. We have particular experience in representing parties before the European Court of Justice and have links with specialist lawyers in Brussels where, for the last 20 years, all of our pupils have spent some time on secondment.
