Companies and individuals: Direct Access

In many cases, companies and individuals can access our services directly in accordance with rules laid down by the Bar Council. For further information concerning those rules, please see the Bar Standards Board’s Guidance for Lay Clients.

Barristers at Henderson Chambers have considerable experience of providing legal services under the direct access scheme and were shortlisted for Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards 2008 for their work in this area.

We aim to provide a fast and efficient service to clients who regularly access legal services and who do not need to instruct a solicitor or other intermediary to access our professional expertise.

Not every case or matter will be suitable for direct access and in many cases you will need to instruct a solicitor or other professional.

To find out if your case or matter is suitable for the direct access scheme, please fill out our Enquiry Form and our clerks will ensure that your enquiry is addressed promptly.

Please also note that, whilst many of our barristers provide pro bono (free services), they do so only via the Bar Pro Bono Unit which you should contact directly. Please also be aware that we cannot obtain legal aid or public funding on your behalf. In many cases you may be asked to pay in advance for any work you would like one of our barristers to undertake for you.
